In this tutorial we demonstrate how to install and use two Advanced Control Panels which are available for free as a package from www.oliverhine.com.
The first control panel available in this package is an optimized version of the standard Iconbar that comes with DotNetNuke. This optimized version provides performance enhancements and allows the pages to load quicker when you are logged in as an administrator. The optimized version is especially useful if you are administrating your DotNetNuke website using a slow internet connection.
The second control panel available, named "Ribbon Bar" adds additional features while also taking up less space than the original control panel, the features of the ribbon bar include:
- Intelligent saving of space using a JQuery UI
- Multiple views (these include the ribbon style, compact text links, and expandable icon mode)
- All actions are executed without any page refresh by utilizing AJAX callbacks
- The control panel also provides new add module features, allowing you to create a new module, copy or reference an existing module.
