Welcome to issue 24 of DNN Creative Magazine.

In this issue we demonstrate how to work with and create your own page templates. We have discovered an easy technique for creating page templates so that you do not require any programming skills to create complex templates.

Page templates are a powerful time saving tool. If you have certain modules that you regularly need to add to a page, you can do this automatically with a page template. If you have content in a Text / HTML module that you always use as a starting point, you can have default content added to a module through a page template.

Following page templates we demonstrate the new page management functions in the latest versions of DotNetNuke. This covers username permissions and various page copying functions.

Welcome to issue 23 of DNN Creative Magazine.

We have now completed the changeover to the new pure CSS skin for DNN Creative, so for issue 23 we have released 5 free pure CSS XHTML compliant skins for DotNetNuke.

These skins are open source html templates which we have converted to DotNetNuke skins.

Viewing the code from a variety of designers helps to improve your CSS skills and learn multiple techniques for manipulating the layouts and styling of CSS skins.

Welcome to issue 22 of DNN Creative Magazine.

In this issue we demonstrate how to transfer a localhost DotNetNuke installation to a live website and vice versa.

This is an essential technique to learn for successfully working with DotNetNuke installations on a live hosted website and a localhost installation.

Following this we demonstrate how to use a find and replace SQL procedure to find and replace any content within the text / html module across an entire DotNetNuke installation. This is a very powerful technique for solving problems such as changing the URLs of images after transferring a DotNetNuke installation.

Welcome to the twentieth issue of DNN Creative Magazine.

 

In this issue we demonstrate how to install DotNetNuke v4.5 to Windows XP Professional, Home Edition, and also how to install the source code.

We walk you through step by step how to configure a barebones installation of Windows before installing DotNetNuke as quite often this is the hardest part of installing DotNetNuke.

We also continue the XHTML compliance tutorials from issue 19 where we demonstrate further changes to enable an XHTML compliant DotNetNuke; we discuss these changes for both versions 4.4 and 4.5.

Welcome to the nineteenth issue of DNN Creative Magazine.

 

In this issue we demonstrate how to configure the latest DotNetNuke v4.4 to produce XHTML compliant code.

We explore the new skinning features in DNN v4.4 looking at DOC TYPES and using DROPDOWNACTIONS.

We have also updated the Simple Red Leaf skin as well as the 'How to reduce and validate the default DotNetNuke CSS' article for v4.4.

In February we upgraded DNN Creative Magazine, so we have documented the steps taken and pitfalls to avoid when undertaking a large upgrade project in DotNetNuke.

Finally, we discuss software piracy and how it can affect the DotNetNuke community.

Welcome to the seventeenth issue of DNN Creative Magazine.

In this issue we cover working with portals in DotNetNuke. We begin with an introduction to multiple portals in DotNetNuke, starting from the basic concepts, right through to creating parent and child portals within a live DotNetNuke installation.

Following this, we help you to decide on the best portal type to use, with help of a portal considerations PDF mind map.

Once you have got to grips with portals, we introduce you to working with portal aliases and progress onto portal templates and the site wizard. These techniques are useful when installing portals and transferring a portal from a localhost installation to a live website.

Finally, we finish with administering and configuring portals as a Host Super User and demonstrate the variety of options you have available for configuring each portal within your DotNetNuke installation.

Welcome to the sixteenth issue of DNN Creative Magazine.

In this issue we cover troubleshooting techniques for skins. The techniques range from how to quickly find the CSS class that styles an element within your skin, through to live website CSS troubleshooting, in particular looking at Solpart menu and skin design layouts.

Instead of spending hours trying to fix a skin problem, you will be able to solve your problems in a matter of minutes using these techniques.

From skinning we move on to ways of making money with your DotNetNuke website. We outline the various methods you can use with a default installation of DotNetNuke for making money with DotNetNuke.

Following this we have created a detailed tutorial exploring the Vendors section of DotNetNuke 4.3 and 3.3. This covers working with Vendors, Banners and the Affiliates sections of DotNetNuke, along with applying the techniques that we discussed in the ‘How to make money from DotNetNuke’ tutorial.

Welcome to the fifteenth issue of DNN Creative Magazine.

In this issue we cover one of the hardest elements of working with DotNetNuke, Installation.

We also explore setting up email and working with newsletters. Email setup is one of the first tasks you need to complete when configuring DotNetNuke because many elements within DotNetNuke make use of sending emails.

The User Settings tutorial has been expanded into part 2 to cover the new settings introduced in the latest DotNetNuke version 4.3.5.

The Documents core module is explored in depth demonstrating the latest 4.3 and 3.3 version. This is a really flexible module that most web designers will have a use for.

Finally, if you have the ActiveForums and XMod modules, we demonstrate how to integrate the two modules for selecting avatars.
