I have developed and tested a custom registration page that checks a potential registrant for paid membership from company member database and then allows for setting up username/password/profile etc.
problem:
I am not sure how to customize the registration link that shows on the default page to point to my custom registration page. HELP !!
Answer that gives way to resolution of problem will earn you 1482 cool points, and the designation of Geek Kung Fu siefu

The easiest thing would be for you to remove that link by making registration private. Then, you can add your own link to the skin file and point it at the custom page.
Now. a question for you ... how to you propose to handle expired or lapsed subscriptions?

I mis-answered this question.
1. Create your custom registration page.
2. Make this page "hidden" on the page settings page.
3. On the Admin/Site Settings/ Security Settings page, set the User Page to point to your custom registration page.
Once you have done this, the Register link will point to your custom page rather than the standard DotNetNuke registration page.

I have also been trying to do this. Can you tell me where I am going wrong. I changed the setting as you suggested. Now when I click registration it takes me to the page I need. But, if a user clicks on login they also go to this page. I want to redirect them to a different page for login. Is this possible? Thanks

RIght next to the entry for the User Page, you will find an entry to the Login Page. Have you tried setting that?
I would also suggest that you create and test both of these pages before changing the User and Login settings to point to them. If you've not got them correct, especially the Login page, you might have some trouble logging into your site.
By the way, the Professional DotNetNuke 4 book by Shaun Walker, et. al. is a nice reference, especially for things like this. The book it a bit dated, in that it was writting over a hear and a half ago, but it's still quite correct in the things that it includes.

Thanks for your quick reply.
I have set the user page for the registration and the login page for my custom login page. This is ok but once a user is logged in when the click on the registration link that has now changed to their user name, it takes them to the registration page again. I want it to take them to their profile page. How can I get it to redirect to a different place once they are logged in? Thanks, your help is very much appreciated.
