Hi Buck,
Just checked your site with the digg it and delicious links integrated into News Articles - how did you set that up?
Thanks,
Hi Lee,
In regards to the second database, I built a site, about 4 years ago with the Visual Studion version prior to VS2003. It is running on .net 1.1. The existing ddatabase is a SQL database running Microsoft Great Plains accounting. I cannot bring these tables and procs into the SQL 2005 database that I am using for the Portal conversion, due to the fact that the Great Plains SQL is running a 400 seat company.
1. Can I create a second a connection string to this old SQL database in Web.config and call it within the portal. Or, do I need to add the dll and files from the old application to the folder structure of the new portal site and just make pages that look like the new portal skin but these pages would be rendered outside of the new portal structure? I could do this, realizing that the login procedure would not be that of the portal system. But, if the new site is a .net 2.0 site and the old files are 1.1, I know there will be issues.
2. Digg.com and delicious
I created the links within the NewsArticles mod templates. By going to Digg and delicious, they have, in their developer sections, the link info to create these links. They then populate the page link, subject, and short description when you add them to their sites.
I took these examples, mentioned above, and created the url strings with Scott's template tokens for [URL], [TITLE], etc.
