Hi Todd,
What you are describing here is an ideal use of portals.
You can set a portal up to be either a child portal, ie:
www.example.com/childportalname
or as a parent portal:
www.newdomainname.com
If you create a parent portal, you could use the sub-domain method that you mention, ie.
http://subjecta.mywebsite.comI have not yet created any tutorials on working with the portals, but I have recently created a post here on how to create a portal:
http://dnncreative.com/Forum/tabid/...fault.aspxIf you create a sub-domain within your hosting control panel and point it to your DNN installation, DotNetNuke will pick it up and display your new portal.
PowerDNN have great support and should be able to help you with any additional help you may need with creating the sub-domain etc.
Hope this gives you a starting point, thanks,
Lee
