I would first run some experiments using the Text / HTML module - insert it into a page and see which sections of the HTML you need to transfer from your existing site into the Text / HTML module. - This should really just be the main content. The graphics of your site you will create as a skin.

Once you have confirmed the elements that you need to transfer you maybe able to create something that will add data to the tables for the text / html module. Basically you will need to study the table structure of how pages, modules inserted into a page and the content of a module all interact with each other. - Once you understand that you may then be able to create a script to insert the correct details into the relevant tables.

It will take a bit of study to work out but should be possible. As a starting point, if you are a beginner to DNN, I would make sure you fully understand how everything works with pages, security roles, users, modules etc. this will make it much easier for you to then develop a script.

Thank you for your answer. It gives me some more understanding to dnn. Actually I am really new to dnn and I am really frustrated by the mechanisms which is surely different to dreamweaver and some other web development software.

Since I got at least 400 pages of webpages, I don't want to create it one by one. That's why a script is necessary.

For my problems, do i need to use vb.net to write the script since i know dnn is written by vb.net? And in my mind, I wonder if the script should try to convert the pages or transfer the pages into the databases of dnn? Can you give me some more hints, please? I really do not have solid understanding to dnn.

I have not implemented something like this before, but I would think that you would need to implement it in asp.net 2.0 (if using 4.3.x) to transfer the data directly into the related tables.

You are probably looking at the need to create a module where you upload the HTML and it automatically creates the page name and adds the module(s) to the page that you require.

The problem you will have is that you will need to extract out of the page that you wish to transfer just the HTML for the content and not the HTML for the design of the page.

Before attempting this, I would just try to create a single page in your DNN installation that is a copy of the existing site that you wish to convert so that you can see exactly what is involved and which tables you need to populate with the correct data.

So you will need to create a skin for your site and then add a page with a Text / HTML module holding the content for the page.

If you are new to DNN, I would suggest you work your way through the tutorials here from issue 1 as each tutorial builds on the knowledge from the previous issues. - There are quite a few hours of videos on here now, but overall it will save you a massive amount of time understanding the concepts of DNN.
