I have completed my dnn web site on localhost with no any error.Now i want to upload it on server.I have subscribed to dotnetnuke park for trial basis.they have give me domain name and also install dnn 4.09.02 community edition on domain for me.yesterday it was working fine.
today i have restored my sql server 2005 database on server.but site shows only home page.
i got error when i login to admin and host account.when i click on 'forgot password' and pass the username then it shows error message-There was an error retrieving your password. No password was sent.

so pls tell me how can i solve this problem?

• How to transfer a localhost DotNetNuke installation to a live website

My best quess is that your current web.config file (the one installed by your host) doesn't match the installation represented by your restored database.  In particular, the MachineKey setting is different than your development site.  As a result, DotNetNuke cannot authenticate passwords or retrieve them.

Follow the instructions in the tutorial to move all of your development site (database AND web directory) to your hosted site and you should be fine.

i have solved my problem by uploading localhost web.config file to host server.

I have another question,is it necessary to change the PortalAlias table because it stores the HttpAlias as localhost/website name?

You will need to add an entry to the portal alias table that contains the URL of the live site.  If you don't do that, DotNetNuke will try to redirect to the localhost address.

This is removed by upgrading to the latest version of DotNetNuke, if you are in version 4.x, upgrading to 4.9.5 will remove the critical updates available message, but you could also upgrade to the latest 5.x version as well to remove the message.

If your site uses the standard LOGO skin object, you change the site's logo by specifying the image to be used on the Site Settings page.  Otherwise, you will need to know how your skin is designed.

As for upgrading and other issues, I recommend that you review the Beginners series of tutorials here on our site.  A small time investment on your part will pay large dividends.

I have a problem in xml parsing .when i run the code that contain generatexml function.which contain a line "xmlDec = xmlDoc.CreateXmlDeclaration("1.0", "UTF-8", null);"
It working fine on localhost,but gives error on server.how do i fix this error.

Another problem is that when i redirect from one url to other site url as described above questions ,ajax does not support in internet explorer but it support in ff.is there any different setting for ie.pls help me out.

Just go to the page and delete it using the page functions on the control panel.

I'd be careful doing this to make sure that you don't delete something that you may need in the future.

When i open 'vendor' page from admin tab ,then in control panel only add function of page is activated and other are deactive.how can i delete the vendor page.

Which version of DotNetNuke are you using?

DNN 4.09.02

Version 5.x onwards allow for customizing the admin and host menus, in 4.x you can not customize the menu, to do this you will need to upgrade.
