I'm currently developing an extension to the core Blog module by re-writing the EditEntry.ascx control. This will allow an additional 'sub-module' to be called which uses Virtual Earth to allow the blogger to assign a map location related to the blog entry.

All seemed to be going well but there are a few minor annoyances.

I edited the module definition to replace the EditEntry control and when I click the Edit link within an Entry the appropriate control is displayed - so far so good.
The problem is that when I click the 'Add New' link the 'old' version of the control is loaded (without my additional buttons in place.
I tried overwriting the core EditEntry.ascx files with my own but this would not work unless I rebuilt the whole site (something I'll not be able to do when the site is hosted).

I suppose I could recode the 'New Blog' module to call my controls but this is a lot of work if there is an easier way of overcoming my problem.

Anyone else had similar issues when extending Core modules?

Sorted - and it turned out to be a simple fix.

Basically I had updated the View_Blog definition but not the New_Blog one (which also contained a reference to the EditEntry control).
Having updated the definitions that reference the EditEntry.ascx control my extended controls work like a charm.
