I am trying to work with the source code of a module. I have had no experience working with DNN in visual studio until now. I have searched all over and can't seem to find anything to help me. It always seems that the situation is slightly different than what I am trying to do.

The source code is not installable through the extensions wizard. I have the PA version installed on a development site on my PC. The development site is running from Visual Studio.

What exactly do I need to do where I can make changes to the vb files, recompile, and view the changes? Is it as simple as copying the source code files into the desktop modules folder? THere are a lot of extra folders that come with the source code. I have tried overlaying the source code into the installed module folder, but maybe I'm missing something.

Chris starts with the setup of a proper development environment and walks through the complete development cycle.

I recommend using Chris' module development templates.

To do this correctly, you will have to manually convert the typical install packages to Chris' way of doing things, but it will be worth your while! Mainly, you may have to move files around, rename components, etc.
