Hello again!
I have searched high and low but could not find any recent information on this topic.
What I would like to do is pass a variable to the default RSS feed application, let's say the page name and add this variable to the end of the RSS feed URL. Example usage would be a google news search feed, or flickr search feed where the search terms would be whatever the current page name is. Variable passed could also be pulled from another module or a querystring depending on what is easiest.
Is this possible?

The DotNetNuke Newsfeed module doesn't have this feature. I did a quick look over at Snowcovered.com and didn't see that sort of feature mentioned for the several newsfeed modules available there.
But, I would think that this sort of feature would be "relatively" easy to add. The source for the DotNetNuke Newsfeed module is available. Some of the other modules offer source versions, too.
I'd be interested to know how you want to use that feature.

The project I am working on is going to have a lot of profile pages and on these there will be tabs, in each tab will be contained a module and to save time I was hoping that I could pass the variable of the page name to the news feed instead of editing the rss URL each time a new page is created. For example craete a default setup for the news feed module using the variable "Page Name" and then just ticking the "add to all new pages" while I go and create the 100 or so pages I will be adding.
What I may end up doing is re-creating the RSS feed module in OWS where I am able to pass system variables in this way.
makethemworkforyou.com is the URL for the site...

I want to clarify that a bit... The RSS URL that would contain the query string is a google news search, so it would look like this:
http://news.google.com/news?q=[...output=rss
Do tokens support this functionality?

As I said, it is probably a relatively simple task to get a copy of the Newsfeed module's source and add code to check for querystring variable and, as necessary, add those.
To my knowledge, there isn't any functionality like this in the module now.

Excellent, I shall commence investigating.
Thank you Joe once again.

I opted to skip the heavy handed technique of instancing a DNN module when a simple javascript widget would do the trick.
I found www.rsspump.com in my research and it works like a charm for my purposes. It allows you to define a google news search or any number of rss feeds and display them how you like.
You can see it in action on my site here:

Click on the "News" tab to see the widget.
