Is there anyway to import blog posts from WordPress into the DNN Blog?

I did a little bit of Googling and didn't find a complete solution. But, it did seem that you could export your blog from Wordpress. It might then be a moderately easy task to pull that data into the blog module.

It has been a few years since I've looked at details of the tables used by Blog, but my recollection is that it was understandable.

Here is what I would do:

1. Export the Wordpress blog to an XML file (I think I read that this is easy to do.)

2. Since I am more comfortable with SQL than XML, I would create a custom table in either the DotNetNuke database or in a parallel database. Pull the XML data into that (I recall that there are easy ways to do this). What I have in mind is one SQL record per blog post.

3. Write a SQL program that takes each record from the custom table and inserts it "appropriately" into the Blog tables. This is the tricky part and your success will be determined by correctly understanding the structure of the Blog tables. You will be helped by the fact that it's a single blog and a single author.

I would recommend doing all of this in an offline copy of your site. After you have perfected the import, you can either do it for real on the live site or move your local copy back to live.

If you do this, I'd love to hear the details, and I am sure that others would also like to hear.
