Hello everyone,
My DNN 5.6.1 Multi-portal instalation is experience some error, many people said to me that it should be a thirty party module.
So i double checked my modules list and i found a module for DNN 4.08, it seems to be a old module and i don't use it.
I tried to delete it but it shows an error: String version is too short or too long.
So i search for a new version in snowcovered, there is a version for DNN 4.09, i tried to install it but it shows the same error: String version is too short or too long.
Now, how can i delete it? It is enough to erase all files in the module folder by ftp? And the tables of the module in DB?
There's should be a way to delete it without damadging my DNN instalation.
Any ideias?
The developers web page is down.
Thanks in advance.

If you are not using the module, it's unlikely that it is the source of the problem.
But ... if you want to delete it:
Delete the module's directory from Desktop Modules
Delete any related DLL files from bin and app_code
Delete any references to the module in the web.config file
In the database, delete any tables that the module may have created, and also any stored procedures
If you do that, you've probably got a 95% chance of removing everything. If you see other issues related to the module, you will have to deal with them individually.
Also, make a complete installation backup before you start. You may need to restore if you cause more problems than you solve!
Finally, what problems are you seeing with the site, and why do you think that they are related to this module?

Joseph deleted the module´s files in the module's directory and in the bin directory,
now the problem seems to be solved because the Portals are working fine.
The problem was that some process in my DNN instalation start to use 100% of cpu,
the server support supose that was a thirt part module,
so i double checked my modules list and this was the most likely module
also because it was sending e-mails even when i don't wanted to.
Now all this issues seems to be solved but the module´s name still appear on the modules list.
Thanks for your help

You can try deleting the module from the Host, Extensions page. That may get it off of the list.
There may be database tables and stored procedures that remain because you have deleted the scripts that remove them. If there are, you can always delete them manually. Make a backup first!
