Hi, I'm developing this mini-site:

And although I have entered titles, descriptions, and names for every page and Text/HTML module I still get "Enter Title" in the search results listings for many items.

Try searching for the word "service" and you'll see what I mean.

Is there some place I'm missing? Where does the search module get the title values from?

Do you have modules with blank titles?

There are titles in all of the modules that have text. There are some modules on the site that only hold one image each (a banner type graphic) and they may be blank. I'll try adding titles to those?

Also, for some module containers I didn't actually include the [TITLE] skin object and instead just put an H1 in the content manually. I guess that could be another reason why.

On the results that have 'enter title' do any of those pages have modules without a title or without the [TITLE] skin object? - I don't think the skin object on your containers will have any effect on the search results, it's the data stored in the module settings that is likely to have an effect on the search results.

I personally prefer a different search engine provider, which we have implemented on DNN Creative: Xepient Solutions Open-SearchEngine v2.0 Review for DotNetNuke

This indexes your site based on the URLs, much like a normal search engine and it may be worth having a look at.

There are modules without the [TITLE] skin object but I have entered values for titles in all of the module/page settings. Oh well, I can live with this issue as this is just a temporary website for a conference that will come and go.

Hi Loren- I realize this is an old post and wanted to tell you that I have the same issue on different versions of DNN. Currently testing 5.4.1 and with production sites in older versions (as far back as 4.9). All seem to have this issue. It is annoying when your search results return a page of hits and everything says "Enter Title" I should also note that I've tested all sites with the built-in/minimalExtropy skin. I have found that manually running a re-index will sometimes fix the problem...go to host > search admin and click reindex. This works for 5.x most of the time. This may have been something fixed in the later 5.x versions of DNN. True the open search engine is a great module, however, it was purchased by DNN and will disapear into the professional version at some point. Curtis
