Hi Lee and Joe

I am unable to create a child portal - after clicking "Create Portal" nothing happens and I get this error message: Error creating Profile Definitions

On the Portals page the "New" title is displayed but nothing under "Portal Aliases" and when I click on the pencil/edit I see this error

Error: Site Settings is currently unavailable.

There's nothing there that jumps out, Lynn.

I assume that this is a working installation, and that you want to add another child portal? Is the error reproducible?

Have you tried looking into the database to see if anything was created?

Yes this is a working website and I have not seen this error before when creating previous child portals. I can reproduce the error every time, I have since tried to create several test child portals using obscure names and passwords to ensure that it can't clash with anything previously created. I get the same error message, no child alias is displayed and I see users 0, pages -1 and nothing shown in the database.

I don't know if this is connected but on this site I can no longer see site log details even though I have it set to 30 days. Perhaps somehow my permission as host has altered.

I have managed to resolve the child site issue.

After I ran this sql statement:

TRUNCATE TABLE {databaseOwner}{objectQualifier}EventLog

I was able to create my child portal - it must have kick started it back into action, but I am not what happened.

Well ... I'm glad the YOU had a good idea, Lynn!

I'm somewhat guessing, but if the event log was full, then it's possible that the process didn't finish creating the child portal because writing a log entry failed.
