Hello There,

I have got an assignment dealing with allowing a person or groups of people access to a given spot on dotnetnuke you may want to call it a mini site.

What is suppose to happen is that specific companies or lets say groups are suppose to be able to access a group of pages say 3 or 4 that target their spot on our site. 

Of course they would have the ability to edit modules and their own pages but not be able to have admin rights such as adding any module they pleased or creating new pages at whim.

There will most likely be 15 or 20 groups having their own mini site on our bigger web site with the above needs.

I was thinking of creating roles but wasn't sure if that was the best way to go about it as it would appear 20 roles would need to be made to target these 20 groups since one group should not be able to edit another groups stuff.

I was also mulling over how this kind of structure would be created such that they can have say a page for all their pictures, a page for who they are and maybe a miscleanous page.

The other piece of this puzzle is that they should not be given the ability to be able to create a link such that it would take them off our site like a back door to their own site or some other unwanted site that we would not endorse. 

In my thinking this would eliminate the use of the text/html module since with it the ability would be their to in essence take visitors off our dotnetnuke portal.

Do you have any suggestions of how I might implement this kind of security in my own portal so that enough freedom is given to the group to do what they need to do in terms of uploading pictures, content about themselves, etc... yet without the ability to create links that would pull them off our portal or give them full admin capabilities.

I think that you've covered all the bases. You might also want to look and see if something like dnnFusion's MyProfile module might be of use.

I have been checking out the myprofile module. It seems like it might meet my needs concerning this project but I was wondering if you knew anything about the way the mytext module of the myprofile family worked. I tried to email this question to the makers but judging on their forum responses they are not quick to reply to most messages and it appears that usually when they apply it happens when several people are harping about the same issue.

What I was wondering in particular concerning the mytext is if it allowed users access to the code part of html or just a wiziwig environment to put text on. In other words does it allow a user to type in a

< a href link some place hence allowing user a back door out site via this does it just allow for the creation rich text using bold, plain, colors, etc... with no capability to execute javascript, html, or any other type of coding.
