   I am new to the site, the video tutorials are GREAT!

   I am using the latest version of DNN. 

   I am using the user roles to limit access to content based upon the user's role.  

   I have setup a user role group, and added a few roles in that group.  I want users to be able to pick a role from that group during the registration process, and then be added to that role so they can instantly access the content for that role.

   I will also be using the membership role to further filter the content provided to the end users.

   Can this be done?

I don't believe that it can be done with the off-the-shelf version of DotNetNuke. You'll need a third-party module such as DataSprings' Dynamic Registration module.

I just purchased the dynamic registration. Thanks! It worked perfectly.

One more question.

Using host or admin, while modifying settings in DNN, i get a small status update to show that the page is thinking (little red blocks that move). Can I use this in a custom module? and if so how?

Forget it, I figured it out. Enable Partial Rendering...

The "enable partial rendering" basically encloses your module inside of an AJAX "Update Panel." The moving red blocks appear when the module is updating.

If you are creating a custom module, you can put the update stuff just where you want it inside of your module, too. If you are writing custom modules, you should be aware of Michael Washington's site (adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP)
