I browsed around to your blog and noticed the exceedingly cool and clever swiki- so I tried to set one up for myself in a text/html module on my DNN site...

They look fine on Firefox, but are crazy bad when viewed with IE. I notice you don't have the same little swiki here- I wonder if you discovered the same thing, or have any comment upon the use of a swiki in a DNN text module.

Yes swikis are very cool! - That's interesting, to be honest I didn't think about putting the swicki on the DNN Creative site, so I haven't attempted to place it within DNN.

You maybe coming across CSS compatibility problems with IE - especially as IE works in quirks mode from a default installation of DNN.

You could try switching to standards compliance mode, but this will affect the solpart menu. - More details here: Quirks Standard Compliance modes and Doc Types


The other way around it could be to incorporate the code directly within your skin.

Thanks for the reply- and the link to your "quirks" document (umm... wow!).

I am more than a little intimidated to try what you suggest- to imbed the swiki into a skin (skin object?). That is just way, way beyond my comfort level. I will first have to wade through a lot more of the content on your site here! (umm... wow!)

aside:
suppose that I want to edit the "source" (message quote) of the content in the FCK editor here- how do I then get back out of the source view? The editor menu choices don't offer an alternate view (?)

It wouldn't be a skin object, all you would be doing is placing the swicki code within your skin code, just as you would place an image within your skin. (I haven't tried this out though!!)

If your new to skinning then I would suggest you start at issue no.5 as each issue from there on builds on the knowledge you've learnt from the previous issue.

Once you've watched a few you will be able to pick it up no problem ;-)

aside:
Once you click on the Source button, at the bottom of the window is an OK button, click on that and it will apply your changes.
