I don't know if you can have multiple versions of IE installed on a single computer, but you can have several different Virtual Computers installed on a single computer. Check out Microsoft's "Virtual PC." You can download it for free and install it, and then you can set up multiple computers. Each computer can have different browsers. I would set up virtual machines for the older browsers.
The one caveat I would point out is that you have to assign memory to each virtual computer. So ... if you've got less than 1 gig of memory, this could be more of a problem. If you've got 2 gigs, you are in great shape.
And ... these days you SHOULD have 2 gigs!
A number of professionals that I know suggest virtual for everything. They set up a vpc for every client, project, environment, etc. and then use the ones they need when they need the. An advantage is that you NEVER work in the physical PC, can blow them away and create them as needed. And you'll almost NEVER have to reload your physical computer. I'm going to try this sometime when I have a free day or two!

Hi
funny you should say that, i have a virtual pc just for DNN testing
i prefer to use virtual server 2005 as this has an option to limit the cpu that each virtual pc takes. had problems before with guest pc using all processor power making host pc unresponsive.
Thanks

Since you have some experience with virtual machines, what do you think of the advice that I quoted?

Hello,
I use virtual PC for everything now, after my laptop and new computer both burnt out in the same month I found it very hard to get up and running quickly even though I had backups of the data. - It was the installation and configuration of the programmes for a new computer that took the time.
Now I just create virtual PCs which means I can swap them from the (new) main computer to the (new) laptop whenever I need to. - I can't recommend it enough, I especially like the fact that you can 'save the state' of a PC - you know when you're working on a project and you have a load of Windows open all containing important information, it's the end of the working day and the last thing you want to do is close down the current view. - well all you have to do is save the state in a virtual PC and it saves everything as you left it without shutting down windows - this is brilliant for recording videos!
FYI - I have 2 GB of memory on my systems - I would recommend this as a minimum and I'm thinking of upgrading the main computer to 4 GB.
Thanks,
Lee Sykes
