I have installed the free skin Red leaf, it looks great and I like the menu. But it does not Localize, not in the Login, date, terms of use etc. And the HouseOfNuke menu does also not Localize the Admin and Host! Is this coused by that it is a CSS Skin? I cant figure it out. It localizes alle the content in the page, if it is not af part of the design (Login, date, terms og use etc.) Can it be made to work?

The skin doesn't include localization text. The localized text is available in the language editor. You should look there to see if there is localized text for your language. If there isn't, you can add it. |

I have installed my danish locale, and my other skins localize. It is only when i use the Red Leaf skin it shows without correct lcalized text. As you can se on the two pages, it localizes on the DNN skin, but not on the Red Leaf skin. http://alstrupnet.dk/Design/RedLeaf...fault.aspxhttp://alstrupnet.dk/Design/DNN/tab...fault.aspxAnd if I am logged in as host or admin, it does not localize the menu, but it localizes the modules. it localizes correctly when I uses other skins. Where can I find the Language files for the Red Leaf skin in the Language section? Dan |

I'm not entirely sure about the localization issues, but I'm aware of a localization module by Apollo that is said to help in this area (apollo-software.nl). |

This is interesting. I've tested this and can see the problem you are having, but I am unsure what the solution is. I've even tried adding the localisation drop down box to the andreas01 skin but this also does not localise all text. I have found that it will localise the text if you click on the login link but it misses the text for search, login, admin, host. admin and host may be caused because it is using the HouseMenu. Login though should be in Dutch as the token is the same in all skins. Have you contacted: http://netherlands.dnn-usergroup.net/They may be able to give you some pointers that I am unaware of. - If you come across a solution let us know as I would be very interested to hear what steps need to be taken, Thanks, Lee |

I did create a localizable version of house menu once, however, the creator of that menu dropped off the face of the earth, and never seemed to be interested in incorporating those changes in the menu.
If you are looking for a css menu that supports localization, check out Snapsis NavMenu 3.1, it supports my PageLocalization, which allows it to be fully localizable... Maybe Lee can make a sample of this skin with the snapsis menu.... |

The problem is not that i would like the intire menu to localize... The admin and host menu would be nice if it would localize, but I need not menu localization for the intire site. The biggest problem is that the Skin itselves does not localize. This means the Login, Register, Terms of use, date and so on. This means that the site does not appears danish when a user looks at it. only when logged in One thing localizes, the logout link ?? but not anything else.
But thanx for the answer about the snapsis menu and your localizations module.

Dan,
Sorry.. did not understand you completely, especially because my name (ie. Apollo Software) was mentioned here.
Supporting dnn core localization is less than obvious for menu's....
I do wonder about the rest of your problems though. Login, Register, Terms, Date etc.. all are core skin objects, and should localize without any problem. Is core localization working at all for you? You might try setting "ShowMissingKeys" in web.config to true, this will show you exactly what is localized (this will get [L] in front of it) and what is not |

Localization works fine for me, in "normal" DNN skins (eg. DNN Gray..." But it does not work in these "Pure CSS" skins. It localizes all the text when i press the eg. Terms of... but not the terms of ... link itselves. One thing that is localized is the Logout link, If I login, that, and only that, link localizes. Very strange. I will try the "ShowMissingKeys" trick to see what happens
Thanks Dan |

Dan,
Do let us know what happens. I'd also recommend that you ask this question at the DotNetNuke forums and see if you get an answer. I know that Lee would like to know if there's something that he's missed in creating his skins, or if there is some other issue ... |

I have not solved the problem, but I have found out something. On my server in the Skin folder (red leaf skin folder) there is a file called Index.ascx it is not in the installation package, so i think it is created when installing the skin. In that there is some predifined text. eg "' <dnn:USER runat="server" id="dnnUSER" Text="Register" CssClass="SkinItem" /> <dnn:LOGIN runat="server" id="dnnLOGIN" CssClass="SkinItem" Text="Login" /> '" If I manually remove all the "text=Login" and all the other places where text is displayed i can get the skin to localize right. I dont know much about how it gets there, but i think it comes from the file- skin.xml - were the text "' Text Login '" appears. Hope this is some help to others. Or to you Lee I will manually change my skins, and then they work I hope. Dan http://www.superdan.dk |

All the pasted code has been removed, hope you can get something out of it anyway
div id="loginlinks" dnn:USER runat="server" id="dnnUSER" Text="Register" CssClass="SkinItem" Setting> Name>Text Value>Login Setting>
I have tryed to alter the code so that it shows the exampel text from the file hope it works. Now it is not pasted directly, but I have remowed some code < > /> |

that solves it then. The ascx files are created by DNN from parsing the skin HTML files. Attributes of skinojects are injected from the xml file. By hard coding the skinobject text, DNN localization is bypassed. This should never be done (unless you really want to of course).
So i guess this is a kind request to Lee... could you fix the skin by removing all hard texts in skinobjects?
Of course: this will not solve the Admin and Host menu, which is caused by the menu skinobject used (HouseMenu). You could try contacting the creator of that menu to fix for localization errors. In general, localization errors in menus are caused when the menu gets the tabinfo to display in the menu directly from the database. DNN gets all tabs/pages at the beginning of every request, applies localization, and puts everything in cache. Any menu should just get the tabs/pages from cache, instead of directly from the db, because 1) it will be a lot faster and 2) tabs will be localized
As i said before, i worked together with John Mitchell from Snapsis to get his menu to work correctly with DNN localization. From what i understand, his menu outputs pure css only |
