Online payment suggestions

I have a non-profit client that needs to be able to accept secure online donations. Their bank uses either VeriSign or Authorize.net as the payment processor. Although the DNN Store Module is setup for Authroize.net, it seems to a little bit of overkill. There is no 'catalog' of products and therefore a cart seems unnecessary. The person making the donation must be able to specify the amount they want to give... and the Store Module doesn't not appear to be capable of this. I'm currently looking through the various DNN-related vendors to see what's available, but I thought I'd throw this out in the forum to see if anyone has any ideas or suggestions... as well as warnings [laugh].

Would it be possible for them to create something simple like a PayPal account? Then they could just put a link or on their site that leads users to the PayPal account. The PayPal account could be linked to their bank.

That's a thought. If it were MY website, that's what I would do. I have some clients that use PayPal for other purposes while others refuse to use PayPal for a variety of wrong reasons.

I use PayPal donation buttons which are bits of HTML(generated by PayPal) that I insert into our page. Surely other payment gateways also have these buttons? Trouble is that I found it difficult to embed them directly into DNN (something to do with a FORM tag)and gave up trying. So I went for the basic solution of creating an HTML page to embed the button code in. Yes the donation page is not part of the DNN website layout [but I've tried to make it look like it is] but at least the page before it is part of the DNN website and helps to convert people to want to donate. We've been rather successful and already get 1-2 donations per 5000 unique visitors. I'm not sure if that is a good conversion rate or not but I think it shows that as long as you give people the reason to donate, ensure that you supply enough payment instructions then people will donate.
