Problem 1
I have a strange problem with printing. When I click the print icon on the site the window.open script appears at the very top of the page above the doctype . When I view the source this is what i see -

http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en">

Because the script appears above the doctype the pages' text is losing it's formating maybe because it is reverting to quirks mode or something??

Problem 2
Also don't suppose if you know if the solpart menu can ever be XHTML compliant. It really does fail the validators! The HouseMenu doesn't meet our needs unfortunately.

I'm not sure what is causing that error, but you could try the alternative of using a print.CSS file and specifying in the print.CSS file exactly which content panes to print out.  You can look at an example of this by looking at the code of the simple red leaf skin

prob 2. - Solpart menu is not XHTML compliant, but you may want to investifate the NAV menu that now replaces the Solpart menu in the latest DotNetNuke versions.  I haven't experimented with the Nav menu yet but potentially it could be XHTML compliant.

Thanks for the reply. However, I don't really understand how you can choose what content pane to print in a Css file?
I checked the default installation yesterday and it also happens in this. Howvere, his doesn't affect the page because the site runs in quirks anyway. Under standard compliance mode (XMTML Trans) the addition of the window.open script that appears at the top of the page after clicking the action button print is making the page appear in quirks rather than standard.

I checked out the red leaf skin but this is only changing a css file depending on browser.

The red leaf skin code also calls in the print.css file.

In this file you can specify if a pane shows using display: none;

- Have a look at the print.css file and you should be able to see how I have set it up. - I don't use the print icons. - The print.css file is called when a user goes to the menu and selects print.
