Stupid newbie question:

How do I add a link to the "home" page in a skin?  I am designing skins using html documents with xml settings documents.  What should the url be if I want to place a link that goes to the "home" page for the skin? Will this work:

Yes you can enter a URL just as you would normally in a HTML document, just make sure that you have the correct tab id, ie:

this is the URL for the home page on DNN creative: http://www.dnncreative.com/Home/tab...fault.aspx

It's the tab ID section that you need, the text can be any text ie:

http://www.dnncreative.com/ThisIsTh...fault.aspx

or

http://www.dnncreative.com/tabid/53...fault.aspx

I can't believe there isn't a more elegant way of including a link to the site home page in a skin, like you can with <%=SkinPath%>. You can set the Home Page in Site Settings so it would seem that DNN could easily return the correct URL.

My problem is that if I hard code a url for several skins then someone changes the home page I have to spend the morning fixing skins so that the home link works again, so I'd rather not hard code anything into the skins.

Any ideas would be great!

Yes there maybe a way of calling it with a line of code - it may be worth placing a post in the main DotNetNuke.com forum to see if anyone knows any code, let us know if you find a solution for this.

Another solution could be to use the inventua HrefExchanger where it rewrites URLs based on the page name. - So as long as the page name remains the same you will be able to enter a URL directly within your skin even if the tab ID of the home page changes: http://www.inventua.com/dnn-hrefexc...er.content
