I wonder if anyone might have any ideas on this...

IE5 stats are showing that there really are very few people left using IE5 on the PC, which leaves us with good old IE6 and it's various CSS oddities as the main focus for requiring browser hacks. Sure, there are other versions of browser like older opera (v6 etc) and some early Safari chinks that can give problems, it really is IE6 on the PC that is left for us CSS-only folk to battle with.

Thankfully, about 18 months ago I heard about conditional comments that are supported by all current flavours of IE on the PC. This is by far the cleanest and most future-easy way of providing alternate css styles to IE6 (or any other version for that matter) on the PC.

Since the conditional comment really needs to go in the head, I wondered if there were a way to get some conditional comments into the head area of a skin? I notice on the pure red leaf skin that javascript is being used, but it would be far cleaner if we could add conditional comments into the head area... is it possible through any means?

Have a look at the sIFR tutorial, this used a different method for calling in the CSS and might set you on the right path, thanks,
