DotNetNuke Upgrade Error

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

The stored procedure 'dbo.GetPortalAliasByPortalID' doesn't exist.

 

First of all; I’m not attempting an upgrade, I install DNN 4.41 fresh, although parallel to existing installation. The installation is a localhost one.

This installation folder is DotNetNuke3, and the database I’ve created is DotNetNuke3.

 

Please, what have I stuffed up to get this error?????

Hi ORP. Are you saying you were upgrading from some version of DNN 3? Could you be more specific? Exactly what version fo DNN were you upgrading from, exactly what did you do to put the DNN 4 files (and which DNN 4 files did you download? Can I assume the 'upgrade'?). If you could give us an exact step-by-step of what you did, it would really help us to diagnose why you're getting this error.

From the little I can infer, it appears that the connection string isn't working correctly. Is this SQL 2000? 2005? Sql Express 2000 or 2005? Perhaps it's not the connection string itself, but obviously, as you can also see, the upgrade procedure is looking for the GetPortalAliasByPortalID stored proc, and it can't find it, so there's something wrong with one of the SQLDataProvider scripts.

I hope you made a backup of your DNN folder(s) and the database. If you did, we can definitely get you fixed up. Is there a reason you decided to upgrade instead of reinstall? I've never had good success with the upgrade between major versions (like 2 to 3 or 3 to 4). Instead, when necessary, I would export each module, reinstall, and add the modules back again. However, if you've got a ton of modules, this isn't an option really.

So if you could give us a detailed step by step, I will do what I can to help....
