A recent release (6.0 I believe) introduced a [year] in the Site Settings > Copyright field and as such the site displays the current year in the copyright of the site pages (if included in the skin).
Question - is this token a product of the site or client browser?
If this is a product of the site in a recent release, are there other token and if yes, a list would be most useful.
Specifically I'm searching for the portal name or alias in use.
Thanks in advance.

Curious why the Year token is not listed.

A mistake? If it is a mistake, you can correct it. After all, that's what Wikis are for.

Survey SAYS?
Nooo... unfortunately that's not the same list of tokens.
Copyright [year] by [portal:portalalias]
OR
Copyright [year] by [PortalAlias]
only renders the year token.

Are you doing this in an HTML module? That list is appropriate for the HTML module. And, be careful with the typing as they are case sensitive.
Note that [Portal
ortalAlias] doesn't work, but [Portal:URL] does.
[DateTime:Now|yyyy] will render the current year.

I understand - but if you look at a fresh clean install of the latest DNN release, look at the Admin > Site Settings under the Copyright field.
I understand the HTML module in HTML mode - this is different.

For the Copyright skin object:
1. If the text that you enter in Site Settings includes "[year]" it will be replaced by the current year.
2. If you leave the copyright setting blank, the "Copyright" string from the resource file will be used and the default string has a spot for the year (DateTime.Now.Year) and portal name (PortalSettings.PortalName). The default resource string is:
Copyright (c) {0} {1}
The {0} is replaced by the year and {1} is replaced by the portal name. You can change the string to anything you like. But if you keep {0} and {1} they will be used.

Back to the reason for my original post - I would like insert the Portal Alias in the Site Name of the Site Settings field.
See anyway to do the same as the Copyright field?

It would be quite easy to create a customized version of the Copyright skin object.
Here is the code (admin/skins/copyright.ascx.cs):
if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(PortalSettings.FooterText))
{
lblCopyright.Text = PortalSettings.FooterText.Replace("[year]", DateTime.Now.Year.ToString());
}
else
{
lblCopyright.Text = string.Format(Localization.GetString("Copyright", Localization.GetResourceFile(this, MyFileName)), DateTime.Now.Year, PortalSettings.PortalName);
}
If you take the line that replaces [year] as a model, you could add a line to replace [alias] with PortalSettings.PortalAlias. So, you would have something like:
if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(PortalSettings.FooterText))
{
lblCopyright.Text = PortalSettings.FooterText.Replace("[year]", DateTime.Now.Year.ToString());
lblCopyright.Text = PortalSettings.FooterText.Replace("[alias]", PortalSettings.PortalAlias.HTTPAlias);
}
else
{
lblCopyright.Text = string.Format(Localization.GetString("Copyright", Localization.GetResourceFile(this, MyFileName)), DateTime.Now.Year, PortalSettings.PortalName);
}
Then, using "Copyright (c) [year] by [alias]" would give you something like "Copyright (c) 2012 by dnncreative.com"
