I have an external link that is not working. The URL should be:
href="https://www.starwoodmeeting.com/(id code here)"

However, after I click save the link doesn't work and the URL in the html code changes to this:
href=".starwoodmeeting.com/(id code here)"

It's the weirdest thing. It was working fine for the last month. Then I made a small change to that page and now the link doesn't work.

Has anyone encountered this before? What did I do wrong.

I'm not sure why/how this is happening. I'd guess, though, that it is because you are making some "other" selection when setting up the link. Are you using the Link tool in the editor.

You can always switch the editor to Source or HTML mode and correct it.

If you can describe how you create the links, perhaps I can figure out why this is happening.

I edit it through the source/html mode, but I did try using the link tool in the editor too and I got the same results.

I have a test site on a different server where I make all my updates. Then I copy the source code from the test site into the live site's source mode. The URL on the test site works fine. But the URL on the live site keeps changing the code after I click save.

I thought it was just something wrong with that particular page, so I added the URL to another page on the live site and it does the same thing. I've added different external URLs to the live site and they work fine, it's just this one that's not working. Do you think it's a server problem, since the URL works on the test site? However, the test site is on an internal server, so it can only be viewed when I'm at work.

It just doesn't make an sense since it was working before.

Thanks for your help Joe. We ended up changing the text so it wouldn't link to that external link. Luckily, that campaign ended. Hopefully, I won't come across anything like that again. It must have been an anomaly or something.

Hello Joe. I have encountered the very same problem. I am using DNN6. It somehow changes the URL eg ="http://www.google.com/xxx" to ="/xxx", it sort of changes it to a link within your website. I have also discovered that if you change http to https then the external link stays. Help please ?
