Hi,

We need for our clients to be able to add an entry to their blog which is being used for their news feeds but the Add Blog Entry option is not available to registered users, only to the Host account. How would I go about setting the blog up so that the users can add a blog entry as well?

By the looks of things, each user must have their own blog with child blogs, so a normal registered user cannot access the main blog which we are using as a News page. Am I understanding this correctly?

Anyone who has Edit privileges for the New_Blog component will be able to create a blog and create entries.

If all of your registered users will be able to create blogs, make the New_Blog module editable and visible to Registered Users. If there is a subset of users who will have blogs, create a security role for them and give them edit privileges. It's also probably best to hide this module from those who shouldn't be able to create blogs. Otherwilse, they will see an error message that doesn't make sense.

It may be that each user could have a blog that is a child of the main blog. Then, all of the child blog entries would appear in the main blog which is shown on your news page.

You might want to look at other (third-party) blog modules. It's possible that one or more of them have features that are more suited to your requirements.

I tried a number of things to get any user to access the Add Blog Entry link when they are logged in, other than host and all my attempts to set permissions on the New_Blog module didn't work. I eventually went the "per user" blog method so that each user can have their own blog and this now seems to work.
