We're testing a site built in DNN 5.6.2 that is localized for quite a few languages and having a fairly major issue with the browser language detection at the moment.

It seems that when switching the browser to another language to test (clearing all cache, cookies, and then re-starting the browser) the homepage of the site we're testing always shows up in English and requires a manual page refresh in order to display the proper alternate language.

Other pages (google, msn) immediately show up in Spanish, French, German, etc, but ours needs that page reload.

I looked at the cookie list and we're getting a language cookie with the correct language code in it, but it almost seems like DNN is loading the English content before assigning the cookie and that's what's requiring the page refresh in order to view the other language content.

In other words, the browser detection seems to *works* but not properly display without a page refresh.

Any ideas why this might be happening and how to solve the issue?

Have you had issues with DNN's built-in cookie method in the past? I'm trying to figure out whether it's designed to be as useless at it seems to me, or whether it *should* work perfectly and instantly and we're just running into an unusual issue.

I have not done anything like this before, so I really am not a reliable source for help on this issue.

Have you tried using the LANGUAGE skin object to select language?
