Hope you can help me with this issue:
In a clean install of DNN 5.6 when I go to the skins section ( admin > skins ) the page is "empty", I can see the controls to filter skins, but the table that actually list them and their containers is just empty.
The default skin is correctly applied to the portal.
I switched to several browsers hoping that it were some kind of render error, maybe a misplaced div or a hidden nav but there was no luck.
Using firebug I inspected the page and found that there are two tables (one for skins, one for containers) with no row/column declared.
You can find a screenshot here:

Hi 654,
Welcome to the community.
The problem that you are running into is that skins can actually be installed in two different places. You are looking in Admin > Skins but I think that you want to be looking in Host > Skins.

You are looking in Admin > Skins but I think that you want to be looking in Host > Skins.
Still no luck at all, there is no Skins option under the Host section.
I did a new installation in localhost and the skins are available, but if I move the application to the public server (www.domain.com) the skins disappear and I double checked ASPNET and NETWORK SERVICE users have full control permissions.
Someone suggested this but didn't work:
"
go to file manager in admin menu and resync recursively all files (option in top right corner). go to site settings and check for available host skins
"
Any ideas?

You'll find the skins listed under Host, Extensions these days.

Finally, a hint!
The physical path to the skins seems to be corrupted
There is a SUB:
Private Sub ProcessSkins(ByVal strFolderPath As String, ByVal type As String)
In the control that process the skins:
DesktopModules\Admin\Skins\EditSkins.ascx.vb
My application is under c:\sites\client\dnn56 where SITES is the website, CLIENT is a regular folder and DNN56 is the application
But the parameter strFolderPath is receiving a duplicated unit and folder:
c:\sites\client\dnn56c:\sites\client\dnn56\portals\_default\skins\minimalextropy
I applied a simple replace to remove the first section to have a value like this:
c:\sites\client\dnn56\portals\_default\skins\minimalextropy
And the skins are displayed!
So... Now I have to figure out what is causing that error, any ideas?

If that string is in the database, you could go in and fix it.

QUICK FIX!
In the control that process the skins:
DesktopModules\Admin\Skins\EditSkins.ascx.vb
There is a SUB that adds items to the DropDownList (that drop down list ultimately is used to load the skins):
Private Sub AddSkinstoCombo(ByVal combo As DropDownList, ByVal strRoot As String)
The problem is that AddSkinstoCombo should remove a part of the path from the strFolder variable but it doesn't.
This is the variable - strFolder = c:\sites\customer\dnn56\portals\_default\skins\minimalextropy
That should end like this - strFolder = portals\_default\skins\minimalextropy
By removing the value from - ApplicationMapPath = C:\sites\customer\DNN56
But because of the case of the values it doesn't do that (note the capital C and dnn56 in upper case in the ApplicationMapPath variable), so I fixed it by using ToLower to all of them:
Before: combo.Items.Add(New ListItem(strName, strFolder.Replace(ApplicationMapPath, "").ToLower))
After: combo.Items.Add(New ListItem(strName, strFolder
.ToLower
.Replace(ApplicationMapPath
.ToLower
, "").ToLower))
I'll post an update as soon as I understand what causes the problem.

Itmwould be a good idea to report this to the DotNetNuke team. I believe that is support.DotNetNuke.com.
