Hi guys, For a new project I need to create a site at which users get a personal page after registering, which they can use to use different kinds modules. I don't know what this is called, (it's not social networking I think), however it is pretty common nowadays (for instance www.runkeeper.com); you register at a website and you get a personal page where you can store specific personal data (as in logging your running activities at runkeeper). I don't know much about web development and how this is realized usually, however in DNN the closest thing I can think of is automatically creating a new page after user registration based on a template (with the modules that should be available), only visible to the user. Is DNN suitable to create such a site? If not, what language/cms would be most suitable? And if so, what would be the best way to create such a site using DNN? Only thing that comes to mind is using Datasprings Dynamic Registration to create an SQL statement completion event and create an SQL Query that creates a new page, only visible for the new user. What do you guys think?

While it isn't social networking, you still might want to use something like Active Social to do this. You could turn off the friend and sharing parts, and use the fairly customizable personal pages to accomplish what you want. Active Social also has a customizable registration module.
I would suggest that you visit the Active Social (activemodules.com) site and describe some of your ideas there. I would imagine that some of their users could give you some good advice. Also, Will Morgenweck of Active Modules is one gem of a guy!

Thanks for the reply Joseph.
I'll take a look at ActiveSocial. I did already, however I concluded it wasn't what I was looking for, but I'll give it a more thorough look (I stopped when I figured it was a social network site).
Any comments on a custom SQL statement? After I wrote this post, I did some googeling and I believe it would be possible to create a whole new page ('tab' as DNN calls them) with a SQL query. Since every property is stored in SQL, I figure you could also set all of the properties of this tab, like which modules should be included, page visibility (only visible to the just registered user), etc. which I figure can all be included in a single SQL query which will be ran as a Dynamic Registration completion event.
Or am I forgetting important issues?

I'm sure that you can create something that will create a page programmaticly. I'm not sure that "a simple SQL query" is enough.
But where do you go from there? I'd love to hear some other ideas.
One of the nice features of Active Social is the ability to integrate other modules with it.
