Hi. I am stumped on this. I have bought a skin which works great until I get to the "Register page". I have worked my way through the tutorials and now have the registration page set up with the fields I want. The problem is that the width of the registration page is really wide - and throws the layout of the skin off (fixed width skin). I'm not sure why it's so wide, but it is. Is there a place to change this? I have tried changing the default skins under the Admin/Site menu but that doesn't do anything.

Hi Lisa,

yes unfortunately the register page does take up a large width by default.

I've had a look at the code and discovered it is hard coded to show at a width of 675px.

Here is a solution:

Open your DNN installation files
Go to:
admin folder
users folder
Open the Manage Users.aspx file

On line 49 is this:
<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" summary="User Design Table" border="0" width="675">

Change the 625 px to the width that you require, such as 205px

Remember, when you next do an upgrade, it will overwrite this change, so you will need to keep a note of it and re-do the change if you ever do an upgrade, thanks,

Lee - thanks for your prompt response. I changed the manageusers.aspx and profile.ascx page and the page definately got less wide. However, it's still not quite right. How do I get it to not show the skin fragment that's coming up? I don't see any way to change what that is.  No matter what I put in the site settings this is what I see. Also the logo is still offline, which is probably due to the skin fragment I can't get rid of?

Also - you mentioned that these widths were hard coded - is that normal or is our installation wrong? Or is the skin not working properly?

Hi Lisa,

Yes, looking at your version in Firefox I can see that the drop down lists are not quite displaying correctly! - They need the full width to display correctly. - I would set the width back to the original figure and try a different method.

- When I mentioned hard coded, it is hard coded in the core code in the manageusers.aspx file, it is the same for every DNN installation.

I would now try editing the skin, it is probably your only option. Lynn has been having a similar problem on this thread:

It is your vertical menu that is taking up the space. You are probably going to have to make a copy of the skin and create a special skin for the register page.

In this skin I would remove the menu completely and just have one content pane which allows the register module to take up the width that it requires.
