I am using a flash banner with an XML file to update the text. I have mad echanges to the XML file and ftp it to the right folder overwriting the old file but it still will not change the text. I have flushed the browser cache and temp files. Any ideas? I know the updated xml file is in the correct place.

Try "restarting" DotNetNuke from the Host Settings page. Also, clear your browser's cache. It's likely that the flash module runs on the client side and you need to force the fresh XML file to be downloaded.

Thanks again Joe. It is very odd. I tried from a different computer and still get the information from the 'old' xml file.
I deleted the old file and replaced it with the new one, I even opened it up online to check to see if it was the updated version. Confused.

Did you try restarting DotNetNuke? Usually that and CTRL+F5 is what is needed. When you opened it online it was the updated version?
Try a different browser, such as Firefox
If all of that doesn't work try restarting IIS

Yes, when I opened the online file it was the correct one. I have restarted DNN and even tried this on a fresh computer. Same results. It is reading the old XML file that as far as I can tell does not even exist any longer.

That is really strange, my last resort would be to restart IIS, restart the server - or can you change the URL that the flash file is using to find the XML file and upload the XML file to a different location?

Starnge indeed as I have deleted the xml file from the server and the flash file still has the old text information, so obviously it has been embedded somehow. The odd thing is I have edited this text the same way I am attempting to now before and the changes took.

Well I solved this problem easily...omce I knew the solution of course.
Instead of just replacing the *.xml file for the flash banner text I also had to replace the coresponding flash file and all is well.
I don't know why but that works. Now...if the documentation with the skin would have just said that in the forst place
