Joe, Thanks for your reply.
For Search Engine Optimization purposes, I want to have all requests for my
portal "mydomain.com" be directed to www.mydomain.com whether www is typed or
not...
What I mean is this, if someone types in mydomain.com and clicks "enter" on
their keyboard, I want them to be directed to mydomain.com BUT , I want it to
include the www in front of the domain.
Here is why (and my websites hosted
elsewhere that explains this) but here is the explanation......
"All requests made for your site will be redirected to WWW.YourDomain.com.
This may improve your search engine ranking because search engines currently
view YourDomain.com and WWW.YourDomain.com as two different sites. This
redirection will combine all requests for your site so the search engines
will view it all as one site and allow your site to be ranked with greater
accuracy"
In other words, if one person types www and my domain and another person
just types my domain without the www; search engines treat that as two
separate sites and it hurts my search engine rankings.
I want to have all requests for my site directed to www.mydomain.com ,
regardless of if they type www or not.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing back from you.
