You need to login to be able to post to the DotNetNuke.com forums. When you are in a forum, the button at the top says "New Thread." |

That is odd. When you are readying a message, you should also see a Reply button.

i know, but i don't see one. anyone know of a way to contact anyone on the website to get help? i also notice that if i am logged into their website i get this and can't see the thread details. A critical error has occurred. Object reference not set to an instance of an object. if i logout, i can at least see the thread details. but even on the logged in mode, before i click on the thread details, i see all the thread menu, search, forum home, etc... but no option to start or add a new thread. thx. |

It's possible that the site is having problems today. I'd check back later ... maybe it will then behave, but it was behaving for me.

If this has been happening for 3 days, it's not a site issue. You might want to try writing to webmaster@dotnetnuke.com (assuming that is the correct email address). If not, I'd try Scott Wilhite, and you'll be able to contact him via his blog on the site or through Twitter (MrSwoop).

I am having the EXACT same issue. I've tried different browsers and different accounts with the same problem. Please post here if you get this resolved. |

Hi, I am still having the problem. I just kind of gave up. I emailed the address above, and I responded to their sales and marketing emails, no help yet. I did not try the Scott address above. I may later, for now, I am preoccupied. If you get this resolved, plz let me know as well. |

I just had a friend register on the site and he also encountered these problems. Perhaps it's only newer registrations having this problem. I also emailed webmaster with screenshots of the issue. I'll let you know if anything fruitful comes of it. It's very frustrating needing to ask for help because you can't ask for help.
EDIT: I left a comment on Scott Willhite's blog asking for help and referencing this thread, also.
Hopefully we can get this resolved soon. |

Can you describe in detail exactly what does/does not happen when you try to register?
I registered two new accounts, one with IE8 and one with FF. I was able to login with either account on either browser. When you log back in for the first time, you are asked to update your profile. Also, after registering, you are left at an "update" page which might be confusing.

it's when i go to the forums of dotnetnuke.com, i i can see the main forums page, i just can't add a new thread. or if I click on a thread, i get an error.
i've registered, unregistered, i am on ie8. |

Thanks. This post was pointed out to me so I thought I would help shed some light.
Two things going on here:
(1) Simple usability issue. When viewing the "All Forums" view, you can't create a new thread simply because there is no context for it. You must either be looking at a thread or in a specific forum to see the "Reply" or "New Thread" buttons.
(2) Errors. We are working on continuously improving the forums, which are still in the midst of major overhaul to raise to enterprise grade. An update was applied to the site yesteday which should eliminate many of those errors and make future ones easier to track and eliminate.
Please feel free to contact me offline at community [at] dotnetnuke.com to follow-up.
Cheers |
