I'm in the process of setting up a new DNN 5.1.3 installation. I am having an issue with setting up skin upload permissions for the Admin role. I go to Host->Host Settings->Advanced and the Skin Upload Permissions radio button control is not there. Any suggestions? Looks like the skin I'm using wants to have the skin available at the portal level before I can setup a flash banner. Thanks, Randall

Only the host can upload skins. This is a change in behavior in DotNetNuke 5.x.

Okay, so if only the host can upload a skin, if I log in with my host account to a particular portal, I should be able to install a skin just for that portal, right? I don't see the process of doing that...
Not such a big deal that only host can upload skins, but it would be helpful if the host can tailor the skin just for that portal. Help?

Here are your options:
1) upload to host skins, select "host" radio button next to skin
2) upload to host skins, move or copy skin folder in the backend - using ftp, dreamweaver, directly on server, etc. - from Portals/_default/skins to Portals/0/skins (may need to create a Skins folder). I do this when users have customized skins, and keep the originals in the host area
The idea is that users can no longer upload skins from who-knows-where, since apparently it takes about 2 lines of code to destroy your entire DNN installation with malicious code placed in a skin file.

Hello,
you do not need to move folders if you use the following method:
For a portal in DotNetNuke 5.x, log in as the Host user
Go to the
admin menu
/extensions
Go to the extension menu and select install extension wizard
from there upload the skin file that you wish to install
this will install the skin directly to the portal
If you wish to install a skin and make it available to all portals, go to the host menu/extensions and install the skin using that method
Thanks,

Hi,
How do you do find the extensions wizard in DNN6? I am trying to upload a skin to a particular portal, not to the host, and don't seem to be able to do it.
Thanks

Host Settings, Extensions.
You install skins just like you install other extensions.
