Where can I get a Japanese language pack for DNN ver 5.1.4 and instructions to create the type of language button that appear on the http://www.deutschnetnuke.de/Home/t...fault.aspx home page? I like the way they allow users to select their language. It is a little concerning to me that most DNN sites I see don't support multiple languages (ie wwww.dotnetnuke.com, www.dnn-europe.net, dotnetnuke.jp). Do the language packs work well?

Google "dotnetnuke japanese language pack" and you will find a number of links. And it does appear that there is a Japanese language pack. I think that the Deutschnetnuke site uses modules from Apollo for language localization. The dropdown with flags is one of them, I think. But, you can get something like that with the standard LANGUAGE skin object. Language packs "work well" in the sense that they do change all of the standard text on a site. Additional modules (e.g. the Apollo modules and others) are needed to make a complete site.

Hi Joseph, I had tried a Google search and found a dozen Japanese language packs on the DNN site. All of these packs indicate that they work with some version of DNN prior to 5 and do not mention compatibility with other versions. I contacted dotnetnuke.jp a month ago and got no reply. Where would I, or anyone, find which language pack (esp Japanese) works on which version of DNN?

The later versions of the language packs are most likely to be mostly compatible with version 5. You may have to do some editing yourself.

I was able to find the latest Language Packs at http://dotnetnuke.jp/ However, it's in Japanese so I needed to use a translation tool like http://http://babelfish.yahoo.com/ Heres the direct link with translation to English: http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translat...=Translate

My experience with languagepacks is that DNN5 isn't ready by far ... many of the language intensive DNN sites stay in version DNN4.9.5 because of this. It is much easier to find complete language coverage in DNN4.9.5 than in DNN5 ..... so start with DNN4.9.5 and run it for another year and then your languagepacks for DNN5 will most likely be much more complete
