I have a single DNN installation that has 3 portals. I am considering another DNN installation that may have 10-15 portals. My question is what is the practical limit or what is your experience with mulit portal DNN installations.

I have 120 portals in only one DNN set up
and no problems have I acquire.

are each of these a unique domain too?

it should not make any difference if they are a parent portal (unique domain) or child portal - it is all stored in the database in the same way.

Thanks... the reason I ask is that I hear people saying 1 portal per dnn install and many providers 'recommend' that option as well. I am sure the provider recommend it for more business, but am sure there are many out there using multi portal installs. Just curious of how effective or any feedback.

It's a combination of economics, business, etc ...

If you are supporting multiple clients, it may be better to keep them in separate installations so as not to mix their data with that of others.  If you ever have to "separate" one site from the others, you'll appreciate not having to do that.

If you have multiple related sites, I see no problem in keeping them in one installation.

If you are doing this for a business and are squeezing every cent, you might want to put many portals in a single instance.

As long as you know what you are doing, and short of running out of disk space, bandwidth, memory, cpu cycles, etc. you will be just fine.  Again, knowing what you are doing and the implications of your choices is the main thing.
