nice site, it should display in all browsers without any special configuration, but I can see the prob in IE.

Where have you uploaded your icon file to?

There are 2 places to check: The root of your DNN installation files - favicon.ico

and in your portal folder, ie: /Portals/0/favicon.ico

Placing the favicon.ico file in the portal folder works.
I faced the similar problem. To fix that I just restarted my IIS. and it worked for me.

I'm not sure what is causing this, did you also try placing the file in the root of your DNN installation files - favicon.ico

Can you please try it by cleaning the web server cache if possible. It should solve your problem

Hi I too am experiencing the same issue I plan to investigate further but I wonder if it is a size issue? I plan to try this test Save the favicon.ico from a site that does display the favicon in the address bar and on the tab e.g. www.google.co.uk/favicon.ico, right click and save the image, FTP this on to the site and see what happens Interestingly the google icon appears quite small (maybe 16x16) when shown in the browser. www.dnncreative.com/favicon.ico show the DNN wheel and is larger than the google equivalent. The DNN Creative article on producing ICO files from JPEG is very good I just wonder if the original JPEG needs to be smaller to start with. Good Luck Dave

If you just put the favicon.ico file in the root of your domain, IE doesn't have any way of knowing if it changed.  To force an update, you need to use a tag and point to a different filename than you previously used.  The current filename is compared against the known filename stored in the Url History database.  When IE sees the filename has changed, it will download your new icon. 

Alternatively, you can ask your users to clear their history and cache (Tools->Internet Options->Delete Browsing History), which will also force IE to download the new file.

Standard Size for the favicon.ico is 32X32 8 bit color (256 Colors).

If you want a better Quality favicon.ico I will suggest you to create a large high quality .JPG or .PNG  with Transparent Background, Once done, change the size to 32X32 and then convert .JPG / .PNG file to .ICO

Easy IconMaker is a good software to create favicon.ico, You can import diffrent type of files like .BMP, .JPG, .GIF. (www.icon-maker.com)
