Hi, I am new to dotnetnuke.Have some questions?? Can we open particular page of the dotnetnuke and change its design and text and also put some backend code(C# or Vb.net) using visual studio. Can we add more tables to the database that comes with dotnetnuke(database.mdf) and interact with those tables using the forms in the dotnetnuke webpage...any are there any ways of creating the forms directly through dotnetnuke (the way we add the table in fckeditor)..can someone answer this question??

You can do all of the above, but if you haven't read the docs (and from your questions, I can tell you haven't got to that point yet), you really need to do that. You'll get a much better idea of all the things the DNN CMS allows you to do.
To do module development, is not the same as page-based development though. Essentially, what you're doing instead is creating 'user controls' (ascx files) and then informing dotnetnuke how to find the user control files you created.
DotNetNuke and .NET web parts, web services, modules and code snippets.

Hi,
First of all thanks a lot for the response...
Are you talking about the videos or dotnetnuke.com documents?supoose to change the particular page of document or lets say(each page referred to some page ID)...as we do for .aspx page...what should i do or which document should i refer to??And for form controls and database interaction which doc should i refer to??I am sorry as it looks like i am asking for spoonfeeding but i am some what lost.
I am seeing the things from development perspective not from web admin or host perspective because i need to combine content management system, contact management system and property management system.
I will be very eagerly waiting for your response
Thanks

Hello,
As a starting point I would suggest you look at these tutorials just to understand how DotNetNuke works:
An Introduction to the Principles of DotNetNuke
Quick Start Guide to DotNetNuke
For learning how to style a DotNetNuke site using skinning, I would look at these beginners tutorials here:
Issue no 5 and 6
If you wish to build forms a quick a method of doing this is using datasprings dynamic forms module, and we have created several tutorials on this module here:
DataSprings Dynamic Forms Quick Start Guide
DataSprings Dynamic Forms Question Events
DataSprings Dynamic Forms Data Management
DataSprings Dynamic Forms Completion Events
How to Create an Email Opt-In Form with a Third Party Email Service (AWeber) using DataSprings Dynamic Forms
I would suggest you first of all get to grips of understanding how DotNetNuke works as an admin before delving into module development and programming.
For module development you may be interested in the OWS module:

Hi, DataSprings Dynamic is not an open source.User must buy that.Isn`t there free way of doing it.I liked the database interaction tutorial by using OWS but is there anyway to create forms for free except for that registration form page?? Thanks

You probably can do this with the Form and List module. Still, Dynamic Forms is quite a nice product!

You'll have to take a look at the module's capabilities to see if it will work for your specific requirements.
I can tell you, though, that Dynamic Forms is a really nice product, and it's worth every penny that they charge for it!

Your other alternative is to build your own custom modules, and if you are new to module development then it would be worth having a look at Mitchel sellers book on
DotNetNuke module development
