First post so it's also a hello!  I'm urgently requiring assistance and I'll continue to do some digging once I've posted this thread.  I'm very new to DNN (and .NET for that matter) but I've been asked to deploy a local website to the staging server for our client to view.  I've added the HTTP alias to the dbo.PortalAlias table on the database but it still points to our local address when you enter the domain name into the web browser.  I tried removing the local IP from the PortalAlias but the page fails to load at all, when testing on firefox I get a redirect loop error saying:

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

When I type on the browser thedomain.co.uk/Portals/0/one_of_my_images it successfully shows up. 

Is there a step I've not taken?  The only thing I modified on the web.config is the connection string, and most of the DNN zip extraction remains the same apart from adding the skin I was assigned to do along with it's relevant files.  I've also added te servers on the dbo.WebServers table but since I can find an image I really doubt there's a problem in finding machines / files.

I'm using DNN v4.09.04.

I joined the site because it looks like a good pool of resource so I do look forward to checking out the videos (a couple have already been time savers!) however I thought a direct plead for help might be quicker here!

Thanks for the response, it's ok I've solved the problem.  Basically when I was setting up the live site I used a fresh DNN installation, then replaced all relevant files and updated the DB with a restore.  However it seems that there were other settings / files that may have been outstanding, because this time around rather then extracting a new DNN installation I simply zipped and uploaded the local site and amended the neccessary bits such as the connection string in the config file.  Seems all ok now!  That's what I get for tampering with things I don't understand (yet!).
