I know that dozens have asked similar but I can not find a solution. I watched the tutorial on how to install The HOUSEMENU an configure it. I also downloaded the red leaf skin and containers to learn. Everything seemed to install correct but the House menu does not work properly. -See jpg- It should look like this,
http://skins.dnncreative.com/.
It seems the skin.xml file is possibly not working. [?] It's the same in any browser, IE, FF, Safari. I'm sure it's some over sight...

OK, I got a skin I built to work with the housemenu. I was having the same issues, it appeared the XML file wasn't recognized. I kept recreating sections of the XML file, by appearance it didn't change, but eventually like magic, is started working. Hopefully this will help me salve the RED LEAF challenge.

Were you reinstalling the skin each time, or just changing the XML file on your server? If the latter, you need to "parse" the skin before those changes are effective.
But ... I'm glad that you got it to work.

Both, mostly I reinstall to avoid issues. I'm a little perplexed, but more so, I'm happy it's working so I can start learning the style attributes of the homemenu. I can already see how much more versatile this will be. Thanks Joe for checking in, I continue to learn from this site.
Cheers,
Colby

Hello,
One thing to keep your eye on is what version of the HouseMenu the tutorial uses. The RedLeaf uses v1.3 whereas the later tutorial of:
How to create a DotNetNuke CSS skin from an XHTML template – part 1
uses v1.4 which actually uses a slightly different CSS setup.
Thanks,
Lee Sykes
