I have utilized the Announcement moduel 'out-of-the-box' and while I don't expect it to work exactly what I see on the DotNetNuke News Release page, it seems to not be funcitoning as it should be, even out of the box.

For example, under settings, Annoucement Settings, under Item Template the default code is as follows:

[EDIT][TITLE] - [PUBLISHDATE] [DESCRIPTION] [READMORE]

What is expected is that the [READMORE] token would show actually present a 'read more' html link.  Ultimately, the user would see a summary or short snippet of the announcement allowing users to select 'read more' to view the full announcement.

I would greatly appreciate any assistance with this simple and specific request.  If you need an exact example - the DotNetNuke News Release page would do perfect - ;) !

I have these tokens in my announcements module (I've stripped out the html so you can see):

This does generate a "read more" link at the bottom.  See the home page at StockCentral.com for an example.

So ... it does work as expected.  We just need to figure out why it is not working for you.

Again - everything is 'out-of-the-box'. I have used the Description length field as if that might be of some help to force the same effect, but that only appears to aid in the RSS feed.

What suggestions do you have? We can take this off-line if you want direct access to the module settings.

I have figured out my error but what I don't understand is how to remove the 'Select View: [Current,...].

My issue was not linking an announcement to another Page on the site. I was imagining that it was truncating the message based on the defined length and then exposing the entire message when clicking on more, but alas I was incorrect.

The Select View dropdown is visible only to administrators, isn't it?

Hi, I have a problem on View as well.. the View by default showing "Current View", and the result is only current announcements are shown. But I couldn't find a way to show all announcements, is there any method to configure the View option?

If you are an administrator, the dropdown should let you choose between CURRENT, EXPIRED, FUTURE, and ALL.

But, these are only for the administrator.  Users see only CURRENT announcements.

In that case, it doesn't solve my problem because what I wanted to show is from the User view. For my case, I have a page to maintain the list of announcements however, I would like to create an announcements archive page to show ALL the announcements and viewable by the users. Can i do this?

If you want to show expired and future events to users, I'd make them not expired and not future events.  Just change the dates.  You can, for example, have an event dated Nov. 1, 2007.  But if you make the end date blank, that event will always show.
