Export Portal - Absolute URL's

Hi, I've exported a portal (template) and used it to create new portal which all works fine. However, the initial portal has lots of Text/HTML modules in it with absolute URL's that have the TabId in it. So, the links in my new portal navigate back to pages in the portal from which the template was created. Can anyone suggest a solution or any ideas? Thanks!

If the absolute URLs are coded into the Text/HTML modules, you'll need to change them. If might be easier to go back to the original site, convert the links, and export again.

Thanks joe, Although how can I enter relative links into my text HTML module? They always have a specific tab I'd in them. Thanks

I don't think you can get around the problem of tabid in links in a text HTML module, as the tab ID is required to navigate to a page. The other option could be to install a URL rewrite module and user this to remove the tab IDs, your links can then be true relative links with page names for the URLs rather than tab IDs. Hi Lee, Thanks for that. I do actually use this module on another site. I wonder how well the rewriter works between portals? Because we will have a situation where there are two identical pages names in tow portals (e.g contactus.aspx) after I use the template to create a new site. Hmmm... I give it a try and let you know... Thanks

You actually don't have to have tabid in the URL. Turn on friendly URLs, and you can have pages like http://mysite.com/home.aspx and http://mysite.com/AboutUs.aspx. If you use the Link button in the FCK editor, and you leave the tracking checkbox unchecked, the link will be inserted that is relative, but includes /tabic/xx/ in it. You can edit it to something like this: < a href="/Privacy.aspx" >Privacy Link< / a >
