Database Connection Error

I'm trying to install DNN 4.9.1, I'm starting the installation wizard and I select the typical option, file permissions are all ok but when I test the database connection I get this error message:

Connection Error(s):
Index #: 0
Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Class: 14
Number: 15350
Message: An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file E:\Web\ACSRWeb\dnn_491\App_Data\Database.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share.

I plan on using the Database in the App_data folder so I haven't created any new databases in SQL Express 2005.

You should create your own database. You should not "attach" a database.

jncraig, Thanks for getting back to me. I'm new to this, so create my database in SQL Server Express 2005 and create a login that is owner to that database? Would I still use the install wizard? If so when I get to the Configure Database Connection what do I put for the server, by default it has .\SQLExpress. Do you have any documentation for this. Thanks!

Are you using SQL Server Management Studio Express to configure the database? If so, then replace .\SQLExpress with the name of the server that you use when you connect using SQL Server Management Studio. You should still use the Wizard to configure the site.

Yeah I'm using SQL Server Management Studio Express. SQL Server Express in on the same machine that I have DNN so would I replace .\SQLExpress with local?

The answer depends. It depends on how you named your server. Do you know how to connect to the server using MSSQL Server Management Studio Express and with a username and password. To do that, you also need to specify the server name. That's the same server name needed in the connection string.
