I presume that you are using LiveID on your site?

I would try loading up the 4.9.1 files again, some files may have been missed in the FTP upload.

For instance go to the folder mentioned and see if the login.ascx file is there

/DesktopModules/AuthenticationServices/LiveID/

Guys...thanks for the help...I actually uploaded the zip file and unzipped it over my installation. I worked on this all day yesterday and could not resolve the problem. As much as I did not want to I complete deleted my installation...it was a recent rebuild (just over two weeks ago) and started from scratch again. I could not get a fresh install of DNN 4.9.1 to work (multiple tries) so I eventually reinstalled 4.9.0...then ran the upgrade to 4.9.1...had a few hangups with the web.config...I'll post tomorrow after I've had a chance to review the web.config...at any rate I had the same problem after the upgrade again. The LiveID and OpenID appear to be installed by default...I was able to disable them in the database and then login using the DNN provider...I did reinstall both but have not tried to enable them in the database. I also had to reinstall the HTML module...at any rate. I had exported most of my data from my previous site (module by module) and will be restoring them over the next few days.

Phew...One really big lesson...backup backup backup...I'm going to schedule weekly backups and also do a backup before any major upgrades to modules.

I had backed up the database but decided a manual restore was the best route this time.

Another tip may be not to upgrade to 4.9.1 just yet. - If you check the DotNetNuke forums, you will see that there are a few bugs in 4.9.1, which should be fixed in another 4.9.x release.

A backup trick I use is in Plesk i can setup FTP backups - I have some standard hosting on another server + get my DotNetNuke server to create a nightly backup and FTP that backup to the other server. The other server stores 10 backup copies and this is all automated.
