I have created a new SiteAdmin role in order to restrict access to certain admin functions as detailed in the excellent DNN Creative tutorial. It works fine and I have deployed several sites with this role.

My problem is that in File Manager the SiteAdmin role does not have the functionality to upload files. The folder permissions have been set but I get an Access Denied error when I select upload in File Manager. I can upload files in the SiteAdmin role when doing it via the html/text module.


When logged in as administrator I get the upload/browse control correctly displayed when selecting Upload within File Manager.

There seems to be a permission problem somewhere.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

you will need to give permission for the security role to have correct access to the file manager.

I have set the file permissions as per the tutorial for the SiteAdmin role to read and write.
 
I checked these permissions by uploading images via the html/text module when logged in as a SiteAdmin.

I have set the SiteAdmin role to have view and edit access for the File Manager page itself.

Are there any other permissions to set for access to the File manager upload page?

ah - I misunderstood what you were trying to do. - I've just tested this and also have this problem.

For accessing the actual filemanager only a user with full administration access can fully access the module and upload.

In DNN 5 they are making the admin menu available to other security roles so hopefully this problem will be fixed in later versions.
