If your site's skin has a pane where you want to place the banners, then you just place a banner module there and configure it. If you don't have a pane there, you need to modify the skin.

If you look at the top of this page, I believe that you are seeing a banner module to the right of the DNNCreative logo. I'm assuming that this is a custom skin. If you look at some of the skinning tutorials, you'll see how to create skins. Modifying an existing skin to include an additional pane isn't difficult at all. If you want to look for skins, Snowcovered is a good place to start. If you also google "free dotnetnuke skins" you'll turn up some sites that have free skins.
