Since last 7-8 days i have been facing a serious problem while accessing DNN based websites from withing the network of my office, however everything is fine when i access from my home or other places (things have been running fine since last 5 months).

I have a website on DNN 4.5.5, self-hosted but on a server outside my office network. Since last 7-8 days, whenever users login, they are again shown the login page. The dnn event-log on the server shows a "login success" event, but the user is not able to access anything accept sections which are visible to 'UnAuthenticated Users'.

The same behaviour is displayed for dnncreative.com. However dotnetnuke.com can be logged into but not logged-out. gmail also gets stuck sometimes on the "redirecting" stage.

I guess there is some serious issue with cookies here. this behaviour is common on all PCs in our network, hence its not an issue of browser settings. Restarting of broadband router temporarily allows login access. but soon the problem starts.

I once entered the url of a child portal of my website after the login failed, and firefox gave me the following error:

Firefox has detected that server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

This problen can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies


Please give me some clues how to find a solution... its urgent

You might want to clear out your cache and cookies and see if that helps.

Hi Joe.. thanks for that advice. Clearing of browser cache/cookies (both IE and firefox) doesn't help. However restarting the router of our network does help temporarily, but the problem starts again in minutes.

also please observe the fact that this issue has come up in all the PCs of the network almost simultaneously in the last week.

I also forgot to mention an important detail in my post... which is as follows:

In many PCs, the anti-virus software (avast or kaspersky) are detecting 2 trojans whenever ANY website is accessed - "VBS: obfuscated-gen" or "Trojan-clicker.HTML.IFrame.wq" . These are detected in a malicious URL (http : // web.hyj008 . info / index.htm) which is automatically accessed along with the request to the desired URL like my website or dnncreative.com ... this can be seen in the status bar of the browser.

So is it that because of this http request to a different url along with the desired url, the session cookies are not being accepted by the browser.. both FF and IE?

iam not a web developer hence cannot understand the phenomenon in detail.. pls guide me on this

I think that the problem is network related, not web related.  Ask whoever runs your network what changes they made last week!

yes I would certainly contact your network techie and get them to check out the trojan reports, sounds as though that could be the source of your problem.
