I cannot find my files after I ipload them. I am using a program called Nuke Transfer and I created a folder under my portal root for the files. I point Nuke Transfer to that folder and upload. The files all seem to be going and the progress bars all move to 100% and then it indicates the transfer was successful. When I try to link to the files the folder is empty, I checked with file manager and the folders are empty...I searched my entire portal and the files are not to be found. Where are they going? I am using secure database as an upload mode, there are two other modes, regular file and secure file. I tried all three methods and the same result.

If you are putting the files in the correct folder, you may need to visit the File Manager and select Synchronize (recursively). If that doesn't work, you may really be putting the files in the wrong place.

I tried that recursive function, still cannot see the files anywhere. I searched my entire domain! Thanks for your prompt and helpful answers Joe, are you a staff member or just a very helpful member? You are the only one who has ever offered advice here since I subscribed.

I am staff.

Which folders are you trying to use?  Can you see the folders from within File Manager?  If you cannot, I'd guess that you are using folder in the root directory of the installation, and not in the portal's root directory.

I created a folder under the /portal/0 directory like this dnn/portals/0/myfolder When a module asks what the path is to my folder what would be the proper syntax? I have tried /myfolder /0/myfolder

I tend to get confused about things like this.  Normally, references to folders should be relative to the portal root, /myfolder.  Sometimes, though, you need to reference the whole path, /Portals/0/myfolder.  Trial and error coupled with debugging with Visual Studio is usually enough.

Just cannot figure this out.
If I ftp the files they show up in correct folder, if I use a module to upload they dissapear, although they appear to have been successfully uploaded. No errors in the event viewer.

I have even used the complete path right back to the server in the destination slot but nothing.

IF you look into the folder using ftp, are they still there?

Only the files I uploaded via ftp, anything I have uploaded with a module is no where to be found, even with ftp program searching every folder.

Which module are you using to upload files?

NukeTransfer

I need to have the ability to batch upload files. This was the only one I found.
I have been trying to get in touch with them for tech support but no answers....

I just tried the regular Admin file manager and it works fine. Seems to be a problem with the path I am choosing to upload the files to.
I will continue to try to contact their tech support. Thanks

I am afraid that I don't know anything about that module.

I like to use FTP to bulk upload files to a site.  It's also possible to upload a zip file using the file manager.  There is a checkbox which, if checked, will cause the zip file to be extracted after the upload.  This can be a help, too.

Well once again it was 'operator error' on my part.

I had previously installed DNN to a different folder and then installed it again to another folder...so I had two instances of it installed (unknown to me).
I was uploading files to a folder in one of the installations and searching for them in the other. Sometimes I cause myself so much trouble

Thanks for the help

I'm usually good for several of those errors every day!
