In the top menu for my website, I decided to change one of the buttons from "events" to "links".  I have replaced the images, but when I change the pagename the button disappears from the top navigation.

How do I fix this so that the top menu looks for the links page instead of the events page?

Here is the page in question: http://www.bwwines.com/Events/tabid/87/Default.aspx

It looks like you solved the problem.

Hmmm, looking again, maybe you didn't.  Do you have pages named Links and Events?  If you want one of the pages to appear in the menu, you need to go to the page settings and check the box so that the page appears in the menu.

Unfortunately it is not solved.  As soon as I rename the page "Links" from its current name "Events" the page dissappears from the top menu, even though the page settings have the checkbox checked for show in menu.

Can you change the page name to some other name without it disappearing?

I don't recognize the menu that you are using here, I would suggest once you have changed the button from events to links you look at the actual source code and see what is being generated.  - You may also need to go into the menu settings and change some additional options, if you look at the source code direct once you've made the change you should be able to work out what else needs to be configured.

I don't even know what to look for.   Somehow each of these menu button images are linked to specific page names.  This must be in the skin for the navigation bar, but I don't know where to look.

I presume that someone made this skin for you? If so, you might want to discuss this issue with them. It very well could be hard-coded for those specific page names.

I emailed the developer. It turns out the button image names need to match the page name. Problem solved.
